Hi, Everyone. My name is Sugi and I am currently a Computer Science master candidate at San Jose State University. I took three classes this semester - Algorithm Design, Computer Security, and Master thesis preparation classes. It has been very exiciting semester so far. I learnt a lot of new things (especially my algorithm design and computer security classes). I also have a lot of fun in my master preparation class - working a lot with JQuery and CakePHP.
My interest includes Web 2.0 programming, Mobile applications development, Database design, and in general - computer programming/scripting. I usually code in either C (occasionally C++), Perl, or Java for my school projects. For my Web projects or work, I code in PHP/MySQL, JavaScript, shell scripts, and occasionally, awk. On my spare time (if I happen to have one), I try to learn new languages such as Python and RoR. Outside the computer world, I am also interested in discrete mathematics, light philosophy, light genetics, and a bit of Bioinformatics.
I recently switched to Mac OS X after being a Windows user since 1994 (Windows 3.1). It has been a very rewarding experience so far. Everything is working so well for me. I love the fact that I won't need to install Cygwin anymore on my machine if I want to program in Linux environment. This doesn't mean I hate Cygwin - I actually used Cygwin a lot in my Advanced Computer Programming class last semester. The only thing that I found annoying with Cygwin is the vi is harder to use. I found no such problem with vi in my mac, and I use that a lot before I installed TextMate. I absolutely love TextMate, which I use all the time for my coding (Though I still use vi). The only problem that I have so far is finding a good grammar check (I am using NeoOffice).
When I am not coding or working, I usually go play ping-pong with my girlfriend or other friends. While I am not that good, I really enjoy a good ping-pong game. You can also find me a lot at my nearby Border's reading good books. Once in a while, I will turn to Websites like MySoju to watch some good KDramas or JDrama.
